KarstBase is a fully searchable online bibliography database of current literature on karstology and geospeleology. It was launched in 2005 as one of the community resource of the Speleogenesis website and grew until 2017 to contain over 13 thousands references fully covering (to that year) 16 major karst and cave science journals (World Karst/Cave Science Journals) and indexing large number of publications from prime geoscience journals, books and conference proceedings.
With the development during the last decade of powerful global bibliography platforms and search instruments effectively harvesting the Internet, KarstBase has lost its relevance and its accession has been abandoned in 2017.
Nevertheless, even in its current static form, KarstBase remains a valuable source of karst/cave science bibliography information. In addition to full search, it offers selections of Featured Articles, Conference Proceedings, Dissertation Theses, and E-books. Karst/cave scholars are welcome to add entries to KarstBase although the perspectives for its further development are currently unclear.
