The mass of water per unit volume, usually stated in grams per cubic centimeter (gm/cm3), but may also be measured in pounds per gallon (lb/gal), pounds per cubic foot (lb/ft3), and kilograms per cubic meter (kg/m3.) Density of fresh water is taken to be 1.0.
