cavitation
1. The collapse of bubbles in a fluid, caused by static pressure being less than the fluid vapor pressure. 2. A phenomena of cavity formation, or formation and collapse, especially in regard to pumps, when the absolute pressure within the water reaches vapor pressure causing the formation of vapor pockets [6].
