cave lake
Any underground lake. The water can be in a partially drained phreatic cave, and may then be the entrance to a sump, or it can be open over its entire surface. In vadose caves lakes are most commonly formed by ponding behind banks of sediment or, in rarer cases, behind very large gour barriers [9].
