This year we are organizing a session on Evaporite karst during the EGU 2016, to be held as usual in Vienna, 17-22 April 2016.
We therefore invite you to participate in this event presenting one or more papers on gypsum or on halite karst from your research areas. These can include topics ranging from speleogenesis to natural hazards, from paleoclimate reconstructions to hydrogeology, from pure geomorphology to speleothems and cave minerals, as long as it has to do with caves and karst in gypsum, anhydrite, and rock salt.
Authors of promising papers will be asked to contribute to a special issue on "Evaporite Karst” to be published in the International Journal of Speleology. In fact, 20 years have passed since the last special issue on gypsum karst of the world, edited by Klimchouk, Lowe, Cooper and Sauro in 1996, a benchmark in karst sciences.
It is time to make an update on this topic, and the best place to do so is the International Journal of Speleology.
Info on the EGU General Assembly 2016 can be found at: http://egu2016.eu/ while info on the evaporite karst session is at http://meetingorganizer.copernicus.org/EGU2016/session/20640
And on how to submit an abstract:
Note we are also organizing a session on “Karst geomorphology and hazards in carbonate terrain”
