NEW CHAIRMAN

Starting on May 01, our colleague Zhang Cheng, from China, will be the leading chairman of the Karst Commission. In our current system each one of the three chairman becomes the de facto chairman for 1 year and four months, totalling 4 years of mandate. Cheng will stay as chairman until August 31 when a new 4-year mandate will start.

Cheng can be contacted at [This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it.]. The other two chairman, Augusto Auler and Zoran Stevanovic will keep supporting Cheng during this transition.

CALL FOR PAPERS SPECIAL ISSUE ON ADVANCES AND FRONTIERS OF HYPOGENE KARST STUDIES

Our colleague Alexander Klimchouk is producing, together with Yuri Dublyansky and Cathy Hollis, a Special Issue in the journal Frontiers in Earth Sciences, dealing with hypogene karst. The topic has widespread applications as these ascending flow systems comprise fluids of varied composition that migrate across different lithologies under changing Pressure-Temperature (P-T) conditions, resulting in ample possibilities for diverse dissolutional mechanisms to operate, creating the potential for hypogene karstification.
